This Thursday, May 29, 2025, the city of Limassol, in Cyprus will host one of its most imaginative cultural events to date—”DALI”, a surrealist performance taking place under the open sky at Gazebo Mare Beach Club, nestled on the waterfront of Limassol Marina. Blending theater, music, and fine art, this immersive experience offers a rare opportunity to explore the mind of Salvador Dalí, one of the most enigmatic and influential figures in 20th-century art.
The performance is accompanied by a special display of authentic Dalí bronze sculptures, which Massimo Martina is proud to present to the public for this unique occasion. As Cyprus continues to expand its cultural offerings, this event marks a significant milestone in bringing world-class surrealism to the island—and especially to Limassol’s vibrant art scene.

A Night of Surrealism in Cyprus
The evening begins at 6:00 PM with a welcome reception, followed by the start of the theatrical performance at 6:30 PM. Directed by Greta Susceviciute, “DALI” is more than a biographical play—it is a dreamlike journey through Dalí’s life, passions, hallucinations, and legendary relationship with his wife and muse, Gala.
Set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea, the natural elements become part of the performance itself. The sunset, ocean breeze, and open sky serve as living scenery, evoking the surreal atmospheres Dalí was known to create in his paintings and sculptures.
Dali was strongly connected with the Mediterranean Sea and the beaches and coast of Catalonia. The coastal landscapes are a recurring background of his paintings and many surreal events of his life took place by the sea. Piano concerts on shallow waters, painting sessions while swimming and theatrical moves on the beach where common throughout the whole of his ife. The setting of this show right on the shoreline of the Limassol Marina is an homage to this relationship.
Art Comes to Life — and Into View
To complement the evening, we will showcase three of Dalí’s most iconic Limited edition bronze sculptures:
“Dance of Time I” – one of the famous soft watches that the genius of Salvador Dali created starting with the “Persistence of Memory” oil painting. Generally described by Dali as the camembert of time, the soft watches have many meanings, from the distortion of our perception of time during dreams, to the philosophical theories of the time, for which time is not an absolute reality but is subjective, to the theory of relativity developed by science in the last century.
The “Triumphant Elephant” – a surreal creature with impossibly long and frail legs sustaining the heavy body of an elephant.
The “Dalinian Dancer” – A celebration of movement and metamorphosis, embodying the emotional force of Spanish dances and Dalí’s fascination with transformation, with the dancer morphing into a flower.
These limited edition sculptures are not merely decorative—each carries layers of meaning and invites the viewer to step into Dalí’s unique world where logic is questioned and imagination reigns.

Meet the Artists and Minds Behind the Show
Under the guidance of the director Greta Susceviciute, the show features powerful performances by Danis Bukharaev as Salvador Dalí, Yana-Valeria Borrego Carbonell and Kseniya Belolipetskaya as Gala in her dual aspects—angelic and demonic and Belolipetskaya who will perform live lyrical arias, deepening the emotional resonance of the piece.
Following the performance, there will be an open-air lecture titled “Lessons from the Legends”, led by renowned art historian Elena Akhmerova and theater expert Daria Mozgovaya. Together, they will unpack the genius and contradictions of Dalí and Gala’s relationship—offering insight into how their love, madness, and ambition transformed modern art.
Why This Matters for Cyprus
For those passionate about culture, this is a rare chance to experience an homage to Salvador Dalí in Cyprus in a multi-sensory setting. Unlike traditional gallery or museum exhibitions, this is a living, breathing celebration of surrealism—one that brings together sculpture, opera, theater, performance, and philosophy on the sands of Limassol’s coastline.
As Cyprus positions itself as a country rich in multiculturalism, events like this serve as vital bridges—connecting local audiences with international art movements and historical icons.
